RDF is a standard designed to provide a common reference model for organizations involved in the creation, update, supply, and application of referenced and structured road network data. RDF enables road network data providers to use a common data publication reference model for their product definition, while allowing users to define their application independent of a specific data provider's model. The RDF is designed to support several application areas, such as Vehicle Navigation Systems, Highway Maintenance Systems, Road Transport Informatics, and Advanced Road Transport Telematics. The text and diagrams in this document reflect the NAVTEQ view of the RDF, including features, attributes, and relationships specific to the NAVTEQ internal data model.

| NAVTEQ Map Voice Data Reference Manual Q2 06 |
NAVTEQ Map Voice Data™ is optimized for use with SIF+, GDF 3.0, NAVSTREETS® or Arc/Info™. NAVTEQ Map Voice Data is also integrated into the RDF™ product. However, it is also possible to use NAVTEQ Map Voice Data with NAVTEQ products through text matching. "Text matching" simply means using NAVTEQ Map Voice Data as a dictionary to look up each name, rather than using the ID references in the VAF and SWF files. Files associated with the NAVTEQ Map Voice Data product are matched with a specified quarterly release of NAVTEQ data. There may be some names (for example, newly created street names) that do not have an associated phonetic representation, these will be listed in the Unmatched File.
